Questions & answers
The things teachers and students ask us most. Missing something? Ask us.
For teachers
What is Wordlyy?
A set of live English games for the classroom. You run the game on a projector or smart board, students play on their phones, and everyone sees the same round at the same time.
How do I get a teacher account?
Open the sign-in page and choose “Register as a teacher”. Enter your full name, your phone number, a username and a password, and the account works at once. Setting up a whole school? Write to [email protected].
What do I need in the classroom?
A computer connected to a projector or smart board, an internet connection, and phones for the students (one each, or one per pair). There’s nothing to install.
Can students play in pairs or teams?
Yes. Each phone joins as one player, so a pair or a team can share a phone and use a team name as the nickname.
Can I see the results afterwards?
Yes. Every game is saved under Results: the players, the scores, every round and how long it took to solve.
Can I reuse my favourite settings?
Save them on the setup page under a name (up to 20 per game) and apply them with one tap next time.
For students
Do I need an account?
No. Scan the QR code on the board, or open wordlyy.com/join and type the 6-digit code. Pick a nickname and an avatar and you’re in.
I lost my connection. Are my points gone?
No. The game remembers you on that phone. Open the same link again and you’re back in, score and all.
Can I play at home?
Only when a teacher is running a game. Every game has its own code, and the code stops working when the game ends.
Privacy and safety
What do you store about students?
Only what the game needs: the nickname, the avatar, the answers and the scores. No real names, emails or phone numbers. We recommend students use a nickname instead of their full name.
Are there ads?
Never on the screens students play on. Some public pages, like the game guides, may show ads to help cover the cost of running the site.
Can a teacher remove a player?
Yes. The teacher can remove any player from the game and lock the room so nobody new can join.
Technical
Which devices work?
Any recent phone, tablet or computer with a web browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Samsung Internet. Students don’t install anything.
Does it work offline?
No. The games are live, so the teacher’s computer and the phones need an internet connection, Wi-Fi or mobile data.
